Hey guys, just wanted to give an update on the current interview in progress. You may have noticed it’s been a while since I posted my last translation. That is because we have been working on Maya’s Solo Interview in Rock & Read 45. I have mentioned this before, but the Rock & Read interviews are incredibly long. usually 12 pages in length. They get even longer when you translate them into English. 

We’re about halfway through, so I suspect it might be a month or two before it’s completed. But this one is totally worth it! It’s is certainly interesting to see the walking pillar of sunshine, that is Maya, take a more somber tone. Among the topics covered: Maya’s philosophy on life (and death), the passing of his Grandmother and Dog (Moco-Chang), and LM.C’s performance at Budoukan, and his family. It was surprising to learn that he has siblings. I had thought he was an only child. I’m really looking forward to completing this interview and I hope you are all too. 

As normal, I’ll be doing some shorter interviews after. I may do some more “My Universe” articles or a mid-length interview.  Not sure yet. I like to alternate; if I do an interview with Maya, I’ll do one with Aiji next. In the future, I’d like to translate their audio clips as well, how I will need to improve my Japanese quite a bit.  There are a few other challenges such as where to post them if I do (because of copyright issues). 

None the less, I wanted to let you all know that I am committed as ever to LM.C and spreading the word about them. I think that’s especially important now when so much of their fanbase seems to be growing more and more lethargic. Despite several foreign fan clubs, with hundreds of members each, and thousands of self-proclaimed fans, the showing of that fandom has been very weak. We couldn’t even muster enough people to participate in putting together a 50-page fan-book. Even a fan letter that only required people to sign their names had a lackluster turnout.  

I’m not sure what the reason is. Maybe, their music isn’t in enough animes to attract new fans. Maybe, they just aren’t big enough or showy enough (they certainly aren’t as wild with their fashions as other VK bands). Or perhaps people don’t like how they’ve aged and don’t think they’re cute enough (I’ve noticed their aging, but I still love the way they look. I think that for their ages they look amazing). It could be that the fans themselves have aged and are too busy with their own lives.  I don’t know the reason, but it seems like after hitting a peak among their foreign fans in 2011-2012, things have cooled down to near frozen. 

I love the way LM.C and the boys themselves have matured. Both Maya’s singing and Aiji’s compositions have gotten considerably better. I personally have gone from liking only half the songs on their albums to liking all the songs on their more recent releases. I think that says a lot about their growth. That’s why I do this. If this blog helps reignite the fans by helping them get to know LM.C as more than just a band with 2 hot guys, but 2 amazing people who are really doing something meaningful with their music, I’m glad. If more people discover LM.C thanks to this blog I’m happy. 

Going forward, I’d really like the opportunity to interact with those of you who follow this blog more. That’s why I opened up the comments on this blog. Let’s talk about them, the things we’ve learned about them; let’s remind ourselves and others  what’s great about them.
