Finally got around to this. So onto the Q&A Panel.
Again it was tons of fun, and again no pictures or media while the band was present. But they did hang the flag (as seen in the photo) the fans made for them. Maya would comment that every time they’ve come, fans make these flags for them, and he really likes that. It makes him very happy, so keep doing it.
They had us line up to ask questions, I don’t remember all the questions or the answers but I will try to recount as many as I can, keep in mind I will be paraphrasing.
2 of the questions asked were what advice they had for people trying to start their own band. LM.C’s advice basically boiled down to practice diligently and to keep putting yourself out there until you find fellow bandmates.
My question was “Why there was no Birthday event for Aiji (asked in Japanese)?”
When I asked Maya started to giggle.
Aiji responded: “It’s not that I don’t like to be celebrated, but I get shy around a lot of people.”
I thought it was cute that knowing as long as he’s been performing, for all the places his been, and people he’s met he would still be so shy. His demeanor was rather shy in general. This was a surprised because based on the interviews I expected Maya to be shyer as he seldom goes out.
Other questions included what sights had they gone to see in Dallas. They went to the JFK museum (I believe it’s called the 6th-floor museum). But didn’t go inside for some reason. And Maya went shopping at a mall, but I don’t remember the name of it…it might have been the NorthPark Center mall, but don’t quote me on that.
Another question was did they always want to be musicians?
I don’t think Aiji really gave an answer, but Maya said: “No, I wanted to be a Police Officer. In Japan Police Officers are very respected, so that’s why I wanted to be one.”
This was both a surprising answer and not surprising. Surprising in that I thought he’d say he always wanted to be a musician and Policeman is about as far from a musician as you can get. But Maya wanting a job where he’s respected wasn’t surprising.
Maya is adorable, yes. Fun and funny, yes. Charismatic, yes. Totally awesome and super nice, check and check. Humble? Nope. Lol.
When asked what their favorite LM.C outfit was, Aiji said the Strong Pop outfit with the bunny ear helmets. I don’t remember what Maya said, or if he answered that question at all.
They were also asked what their favorite western song is, they couldn’t name one! Lol.
When Aiji was asked if he thinks of Maya as a little brother, being energetic and kind of annoying, Aiji simply answered “Yes.”
Maya then countered the reference to him being annoying with, “I only do cute things.”
When they were asked what the hardest obstacle they had to overcome as a band was they responded as follows:
Aiji: “In the beginning, there was a problem Maya not delivering the lyrics on time.”
Maya: “It wasn’t that coming up with lyrics was difficult, but I was a bit immature at the time.”
On that note, Maya has matured quite a lot. A lot of those early odd behaviors, like his infamous table biting, and candy addiction (this might be why he doesn’t his pudgy cheeks anymore, and why he lost all that weight) are gone. However, based on his follow-up he probably still has a few quirks we’re not seeing.
They were also asked if they’ve ever argued. Aiji basically said not really, there was only one time they ever had an argument:
Aiji: “The only time we’ve argued was when we went to Malaysia and I forgot to tell Maya to put on Sunscreen. He ended up getting sunburnt pretty badly. He was very upset with me. That was the only time. But we don’t argue.”
Maya silently/quietly agreed.
Another question, Would you go to a haunted house?
Aiji: Are there haunted houses here? (not sure if he meant in Dallas or in the USA)
Fan: Yes.
Aiji: Do they grab you? (referring to ghosts)
Fan: Some do, but most don’t.
Maya & Aiji: -clearly hesitant- That sounds dangerous.
Aiji: No, I wouldn’t go.
The last question, Has a fan ever done anything that scared you?
Maya: Yes, in France.
Aiji: During our live in France a man jumped onto the stage, ran up and hugged Maya, and then jumped back off into the crowd.
Fans in the room: -gasps and shocked exclamations-
Maya: That was kinda scary.
And then we ran out of time. I feel like I’m forgetting a question…probably.
Afterwards, there was another autograph session. I felt bad, my poster that I wanted them to sign to really beat up, I wish I’d bought another one. When I gave it to them their expression said it all. Though I didn’t catch everything, cause my active listening skills in Japanese still suck, it was like: “What happened?” TT___TT I’m so sorry LM.C. ;_; But they got a chuckle out of it, so that’s the bright side! 8D
After the autograph session, we (my companion and I) waited around and we greeted them as they left the autograph area. They waved and said bye.
Finally, at the end of the day, something cool happened!!
Around 9 pm, my companion and I were talking in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel (where the convention was held), and behold LM.C and their entourage appeared. Special thanks to my companion for pointing them out, I was distracted and almost missed them.
Maya was mister Sunglasses at night, and it he was easy to recognize because he wears those sunglasses everywhere (he also wears a baseball hat everywhere), plus his hair and his height. He was wearing a hoodie and shorts. Aiji was just in a t-shirt and jeans. They were accompanied by the guys from Chaotic Harmony, and members of the Animefest staff.
Once again we greeted them and bidding farewell to my companion I proceeded to walk back to my hotel. As I walked LM.C and crew came up behind me and I soon found myself walking with the group. I expected them to break away but they never did, I couldn’t speak to either Maya or Aiji since they were having their own conversations with staff members, but the group let me walk with them until we were down the street from my hotel.
At that point, they went into a restaurant. Apparently, Chaotic Harmony was taking them out for dinner.
Best half-mile of my life. Made up for me not being able to be there for the third autograph session, since my flight home was early that morning, and for the no picture thing. I truly got a unique experience. :3
This post was way longer than I thought it’d be. Maybe I should have done it in 3 parts. LOL.
Hope LM.C comes back soon, hope we don’t have to wait another 5 years.
